Bougienage for Esophageal Coins, Delivering Bad News

This month team JC welcomes our CHKD EM colleagues, and we are really looking forward to an informative, fun, and yes, a yummy JC. Will be hosting our 2nd LASAGNA COOK-OFF and  have a good number of folks interested in showing off their culinary skills and displacing Dr. Byars, the current reigning Lasagna King. We are going to discuss a few topics. One was new to me though, has been around a while namely, coin bougienage in kids. It’ll be interesting to hear more about. In addition, the quality and skill of “breaking bad news” as a clinician particularly in an ED setting can be very challenging. We will look at the original SPIKES protocol developed by an oncologist in 2000 and remains the most cited reference for delivering bad news. This is one area of knowledge that we really can lean on our shared experiences and will appreciate our community faculty’s perspectives so, please consider coming out.
